Brett Rapkin is a five-time Emmy-Nominated Director,Writer & Producer. His independent feature length documentary “Spaceman: A Baseball Odyssey” about former Boston Red Sox & Montreal Expos lefty and counterculture icon Bill “Spaceman” Lee, had its World Premiere at the 2005 Discovery Channel/AFI Silverdocs Documentary Festival. The film was immediately acquired for worldwide distribution receiving both critical acclaim and high ratings in primetime on the MLB Network and New England Sports Network.
Brett’s next long form endeavor “Holy Land Hardball” followed an American bakery owner’s inspired and often comedic attempts to create a six-team pro baseball league from scratch in Israel. The film was an official selection of over forty film festivals internationally, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Boston Jewish Film Festival, and premiered in primetime on MLB Network. The Hollywood Reporter described the film as “Something original…with the aspirational charm of Hoop Dreams.”
Brett was also the creator and show-runner on the Emmy Nominated thirteen-part series “Football Freakonomics” for the NFL Network, inspired by and featuring the best-selling book.
He has collaborated and worked with a wide variety of elite athletes and entertainers ranging from Tom Brady, Motley Crue, Marion Jones, Bode Miller, Jeff Gordon, Rod Stewart, The Game, John Wall, Denis Leary, Stevie Johnson and Harry Connick Jr. to name a few. Brett has shot world wide in locations ranging from Cuba, Israel, Norway, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, England, Honduras, Australia, and across North America.
